I understand some are hesitant to share certain information about their business on twitter. My experience has been up and down as it relates to this issue. I don't mind sharing information with others. I do however, mind when I share my creations, names and previews that others steal and try to pass it off as their own. For instance many have sneak peeks of their products so I decided to have previews. Now I'm seeing more of my followers having them as well. Let's not talk about the 2 recent young ladies naming their company EAR-REPLACEABLE!!!! I've received multiple inbox messages about my designs only to find later they were collecting information to COPY. Is this also the reason most don't interact via business pages? Because most are too busy twatching? For these reasons I see now why many lock their accounts and aren't as willing to share information.

What has been your experience?

I've come across a few earrings non-re-designs *I made that word up* that I would like to talk about.
The dollar store earrings that you take home and had 2 chains and call it Designs by Foo Foo...PLEASE STOP IT.

Then we have the gold hoop Beauty Supply Store earrings. I actually saw someone selling a few pair that they painted and others they dipped in glitter. Below are what I called the Beauty Supply Earrings before the non-re-design takes place.

Are we calling these people designers or what?! Please let me know. There's a line I have to draw between designing, being creative, and just plain Tacky.

99 Problems but DESIGN ain't one!

So yesterday I caused a twitter frenzy with my Traci feat. Jay-Z Remix tweet.

I was watching Jay perform during an NBA Concert (rerun) and he

starts to rap 99 problems. As I'm listening of course I'm always

designing. I'm rapping along with him and I love to change the words

to make them my own.
In doing so,
"I GOT 99 PROBLEMS BUT

DESIGN AIN'T ONE" was created.

I decided to tweet my phrase and a few people RT'd and some

even added their own twist to it.
Someone even chimed in with their electric guitar!

So now that you have the background on where my phrase came

Flea Thrift Something...

Today I went to a place I never thought I could. The "Flea" Market, "Thrift" Store.

My cousin LaTara swears by this place. I must say she always seem to find

some fly ish on every visit.

For some reason I could never bring myself to go inside of a place called FLEA anything.

Every time I came close, I would start to itch. Crazy but true. But today I put on

some flea powder and jumped on in.

I've been searching for a mirror with a wood frame for months.

Well today I found one, at Hobby Lobby!

I'm not crazy about flowers but this mirror is perfect.

Yes, that's me in the mirror taking a picture.

Looks silly now, I know.

I started to add black accents, but it didn't look right.

Can you believe I was contemplating painting

this "flower" Black?!

I stumbled across these cute little hand mirrors.

Too cute! I didn't purchase them though, but

I'm 100% sure I will on my next trip. Dang what was I thinking, or not!

Joe Dues Clothiers Interview

I don't know a woman alive that does not Love Love Love a well dressed business man. Uuuuum. A man after my own heart. Checkout part of our interview below.

DbT: How did you come up the concept of designing bowties?

Joe Dues: I kind of stumbled on the whole bow tie thing. I always saw myself being some big time executive. I would wear ties any chance I could. I would always see one of my friends at church wearing bow ties and one day after church I asked him to show me how to tie one. He showed me I liked the look on me and started wearing them. It was later that the idea of a line would evolve from a urban brand to a gentleman's brand. In the branding process I wanted to produce something that would set the brand on solid foundation so the masses couldn't say I was urban which a lot of time means trendy. I want to be around and pass the brand down for generations. So starting with bow ties made all the sense in the world plus I love wearing them.

DbT: Where did the name JOE DUES CLOTHIERS originate?

Joe Dues: Myself and friends were sitting around talking about "paying your dues" and with our southern vernacular it was coming out "joedues" instead of "your dues". For example you haven't even paid joe dues. I wanted to name the brand something I felt was southern. I slowed that it down and separated the words. "Joe" would represent the first name and "Dues" the last name. It was later that clothiers was added to add credibility to the brand and further provide a road map to continue to evolve into other pieces.

DbT: What is JOE DUES purpose?

Joe Dues:The purpose is to create a brand that has substance that enhances a gentleman's lifestyle. I want to encourage men to challenge themselves to achieve. I don't think there is nothing better than being a gentleman. That doesn't mean being weak but having a standard. We all have something to offer society to make the world a better place. So I'm challenging the guys if you're going to rock with us we want you to add value not subtract.

DbT: Is there anything that you would tell someone that was apprehensive about pursing their dream.
Joe Dues:Yea, what do you stand to lose and what do you stand to gain? Be real with yourself, put the plan together and get to it. Once you start putting energy behind it it will gain momentum then it's on you to not lose it. Be very creative and see what happens. Don't listen to the haters!!

DbT: If you could have anyone in the world as a spokes model for JOE DUES, who would that be?

Joe Dues: That's a tough question. Maybe Camp Lo other than that I wouldn't want anyone that was famous. I know that sounds crazy but I want to help launch someone's career by giving them the opportunity to represent the brand. We're actually looking for the male and female face currently. The brand is fresh and the movement is fresh so I want to keep it that way. Kalimba Edwards the current model just sort of happened. Thanks Kalimba! Google him! He was a God send! I just thought about it maybe Maxwell. Everybody keeps saying Mr. Bentley and I'm like for real? Who would you say I'm up for suggestions....

DbT: Are you single, if so if you could take one woman on a date who would that be?

Joe Dues: I am single...I would have to say ummmmmmmmm Keri Hilson...I like long legs. Amerie got a nice set of legs too. Next question!!!

DbT: You seem to be in a good space how does that feel to be on the cusp of your brand taking off?

Joe Dues: It feels like this is where I should be. I've been working on this brand for ten years. It's my time!

Jay-Z put together a benefit concert at MSG 9-11.

Proceeds from the concert, dubbed "Answer the Call," will go to the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund, a charity established in 1985 to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty. "This charity and concert encompass the true spirit of New York City," Jay said in a press release. "We are asking everyone to 'answer the call' and support and honor the families of those that lost their lives. There is a true camaraderie and resiliency this city showed the world in 2001 and we continue that today by taking care of our own." I must say, the media wasn't all over this...I guess it was a good cause so they left it alone. I'm proud. "tear"
